ABOUT
Leah Duarte is a Portuguese-Canadian poet. Her recent work has appeared in The /tƐmz/ Review, Forest Floor: Collected Works, untethered magazine, and The Four Faced Liar, among others.
Leah was the winner of the gritLIT 2022 Youth Flash Fiction Contest, and her poetry received a 2023 Best of the Net nomination. She was a finalist for the 2025 Mississauga Arts Awards in the Emerging Literary Artist category. She is a founding member of the Writers in Trees Collective, and holds an Honours B.A. and Honours M.A. in English from the University of Toronto.
Leah is currently querying her debut poetry collection, which mixes Portuguese folklore, religious themes, representations of mental illness, and depictions of girlhood through a speculative lens.
